Things will be a bit slow here as Matt is having computer troubles. This means my monitor has been stolen so that I can help him out a bit. I will probably post, but there will be no pictures until I can get aback to my own machine.

How to boil the perfect egg!

Easter is next weekend and the egg dying has begun. Thus enters the age old argument on the best way to hard boil and egg. Well let me add my two cents to the debate.

The best way to boil and egg (I have found) is to place the egg into a pot of cold water. Bring the pot to a boil, put a lid on it, and turn the stove off. After ten mins you should have perfectly hard boiled eggs. No green on the yellow like when they are over cooked.

Cookies, cookies, everywhere

My G-ma bought me a new cookie press yesterday. I love kitchen gadgets. Who would have guess that, right? Anyhow, this one is a Wilton cookie press. Those of you that decorate cakes will probably recognize the name. It came with 12 different disk to use. Alex and I had a blast trying it out.

Here is a good recipe to use in a cookie press.

Classic Spritz Cookies

1 1/2 cups butter (3 sticks)
1 cup sugar
1 egg
2 Tablespoons milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
3 1/2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking powder

Preheat oven to 375. Thoroughly crea butter and sugar. Add egg, milk, vanilla, and almod extract; beat well. Stir together flour and baking powder; gradually add to creamed mixture, mixing to make a smooth dough. Do not chill. Place dough into cookie press and press onto ungreased cookie sheet (there is enough butter in these they won't stick). Bake 7-10 mins (depends on your oven and the shape of the cookies). Remove cookies from sheet. This makes about 8 dozen cookies (small ones).

Changing the flavors of the cookies is a simple as changing the extracts. Today I supstituted the vanilla and almond extracts for coconut extract. Yummy coconut cookies.

Pork Chops and Potatoes in a Mustard Sauce Review

We tried this crockpot meal a few days ago. I think everyone in our family thought it was pretty tasty. I am sure that we will be making it again, possibly even next month. I thought the mustard was going to be overpowering, but it wasn't. Keep your eyes open as I am sure I will be making this a recipe of the week soon. Happy Eating.

I have been slacking lately....

I am sorry for the lack of posting lately. I haven't forgotten about the few of you who do read this blog. I promise this weekend to post a new recipe and a recipe review of the dinner we had the other night. Until then Happy Eating!!!
